Jubilee Spirituality

To understand "Jubilee Spirituatlity" we must first understand what all is involved in the sacred sense of "Jubilee." We can begin by looking at three major passages from scripture: Isiah 61:3-4, Leviticus 25, and Luke 4:16-30. In summary, "Jubilee calls us to let our land lie fallow; to practice forgiveness; to do justice; and, to celebrate! (SBMC*)

*(From here in, SMBC refers to material used and provided by Sister Brigid Marid Clarke, CCVI.)

This post will briefly consider the call to "let our land lie fallow."

How does a sprituality of Jubilee call us to "let our land lie fallow"? We are to pause. We take time to remember who God is in our lives. We are to live as one who makes space for the One. To lie fallow is to enter into a time of restoration, rest, rejuvenation. We pay more attention.

What changes can you make to your patterns of living to allow for a restorative rest? What needs to lie fallow, that is, what needs to be put aside so that you can experience an inner revitalization? How can you find ways to be still? Where can you find places of solitude?
